The AGA iTotal Control is a further development of the AGA Total Control cooker, allowing remote controllability of the AGA Total Control cooker.  The AGA Total Control cooker was the first electric AGA that could be switched on and off as the user required. Read more...

The AGA iTotal Control cooker works in just the same way but with the added feature of remote controllability.

There are a number of ways in which the AGA iTotal Control can be activated remotely.

•    Directly via text message from a mobile phone
•    Dedicated website via a smart phone, laptop, tablet or personal computer
•    Dedicated smart phone apps for iPhone and Android

1. Directly via text message

A simple text message can be sent to operate the AGA iTotal Control ovens. To make it easy we've included a couple of options, either of which will work for the individual 'oven on' commands.

The text message commands are as follows:

•  All Ovens On - all three ovens on at normal set points, hotplates off
•  All Zones Off - every zone off
•  'Roast Oven On' or 'Roasting Oven On' - Roasting oven on at its normal set point, all other zones off
•  'Bake Oven On' or 'Baking Oven On' - Baking oven on at its normal set point, all other zones off
•  'Simmer Oven On' or 'Simmering Oven On' - Simmering on at its normal set point, all other zones off

A message will be received by the user at the bottom of the screen to confirm that the command has either been successful or unsuccessful. The original message sent (e.g. 'Roast Oven On') will be replied, along with the word 'activated' or 'failed'.

The following example is for the Roast Oven On command:

Successful command
Roast Oven On - Activated
or
Unsuccessful command
Roast Oven On - Failed

Please note that depending on your network coverage and provider it may take 15-20 seconds before you receive confirmation that the request has been received and actioned.

2. Dedicated website

The remote access of the AGA iTotal Control can also be used via a dedicated website, which can be accessed by smart phone, laptop, tablet or personal computer. The simple to use website shows a touch panel graphic when accessing the dedicated website.

1-allovens

The website can be accessed via the URL www.agatc.co.uk. where you will be asked to register your cooker before being able to communicate with it.

Again, there are five commands that can be executed via the website control panel: 'All Ovens On' 'All Zones Off' 'Roasting Oven On' 'Baking Oven On' 'Simmering Oven On'

3. Smart Phone Apps

A smart phone app has been developed for both iPhone and Android Smart phones. The app can be downloaded in the same way as other apps - through visiting the Apple App store for iPhones/iPads or the Andriod Marketplace (Google play) for devices using the Android platform. The app looks similar to the dedicated website and will show the same text commands when the given symbol is pressed on the smart phone screen. The app for both Apple devices and android phones are free to download.

When the website page or app is first opened the 'Start up screen' will appear. Once you have registered your cooker by following the simple on screen instructions you will presented with a screen which is very similar to the control panel on the front of a TC3. The graphics of every button and symbol are coloured white.

2-allovensoff

Clicking the 'All Ovens On' button will change the oven symbol from white to green on all three oven buttons and the 'All Ovens On' button.

Clicking the 'All Zones Off' button will change the oven symbols to white and the 'All Zones Off' symbol from white to orange.

Clicking on the 'Roasting Oven' button will change the oven symbol colour from white to green.

Clicking the 'Baking Oven' button will change the oven symbol colour from white to green.

Clicking the 'Simmering Oven' button will change the oven symbol colour from white to green.

3-simmeringoven

Should a command fail, then a message showing that the operation has failed will be shown.

NB - Remote access will only work when the AGA iTotal Control (iTC3) is connected to a live power supply and the 'on/standby' button status is 'on'. The remote access will over-ride any heat zones that are selected and will function regardless of which mode the AGA iTotal Control is in (e.g. Slumber). The mode will always default to 'manual' following a command being received.

Each command will supersede the previous command; therefore if a Roasting Oven On command is sent after a Baking Oven On command, then the Baking Oven will be turned off and the roasting oven turned on in its place.

GSM remote access device and the SIM contract

The AGA iTotal Control remote access hardware requires a standard mobile phone SIM card to receive the commands being sent to the cooker. A small box, similar to a broadband router is connected to the cooker via a cable which is supplied. This device receives the remote messages from the phone app, direct texts or website and transmits them to the AGA.

gsm-itc

The device must be located in a position where it can receive network signal and also be able to communicate with the AGA iTotal Control. If there is a weak network signal for the preferred location of the remote access device then the existing aerial can be removed and a booster aerial that locates internally by a window can be fitted.

SIM Card

As stated above, a SIM card is required to receive the commands for the cooker. We have teamed up with Orange to supply the SIM Card, using their Everything Everywhere network which provides excellent national coverage.

Customers wishing to purchase an iTotal Control cooker must sign up for an initial 12 month contract for use of the SIM at the point of ordering their cooker. The contract will not start until the day of installation, and will cost the customer £5.95 per month collected by direct debit. Following the initial 12 month contract, the customer can cancel the contract by calling the contact centre at Telford otherwise the contract will roll over on a month by month basis if the customers wish to continue using the remote access function.

Please note that if, at anytime after the initial 12 month period, a customer wishes to cancel the contract they will continue to own the hardware that receives the remote instruction.

With AGA iTotal Control, the energy needed to cook can be reduced to under a fifth of that for the classic AGA heat-storage cooker; usage depends of course on how much of the time you choose to have it on or have it in slumber mode (from which the AGA has shortened heat-up times).

The amount of energy used in the summer compared to the winter may vary significantly due to use of the slumber mode and perhaps the type of food cooked in the winter compared to the summer months.

To enable some comparisons on running costs we have provided the following 'typical' energy consumption based on a weekly standard menu (see table below for details).

A kitchen with an AGA iTotal Control cooker benefits from gentle residual heat when the cooker is turned off, as cast iron retains energy and only cools down over several hours to ambient temperatures.

All of the work has been undertaken by the AGA product team, all data has been fully verified by an independent third party.

PLEASE NOTE: Actual energy consumptions will vary greatly dependent on demand, weight of food cooked and even how 'well done' the food is required to be. The boiling of kettles on the hotspots will also affect total energy used, but the weekly menu covers limited boiling of a kettle.

TCA Technical Spec Image

Quoted heat-up times are based on each zone of AGA iTotal Control being operated individually. If a large combination of zones is turned on simultaneously, this may slow down the individual heat-up times. If all zones are turned on at the same time it will take approximately one hour for the whole appliance to reach full operating temperature. All timings are based on the AGA benefiting from a single-phase electricity supply with a capacity of greater than 32 amps @ 230 V. With other power supply configurations, times may change. In order to maintain warranty status, an interim service is due at 21⁄2 years to check and change consumable items, including the vent fan, and to undertake a safety check. A full service is due at the end of year five. The appliance warranty does not cover commercial use (see separate warranty book for further details). Note: the plinth of AGA iTotal Control should not be tiled, as it needs to be accessible for maintenance

A fully comprehensive warranty booklet comes with the AGA Cooker.
